The sounds of the hood @Achsiedlung, Jugendtreff Westend, Bregenz
The Sounds of the Hood was a field-recording-sound workshop for teenagers from 10 to 16 years. Together we experience the area of the Achsiedlung through its sounds. With a directional microphone and a contact microphone we were walking around the area catching and creating sounds to record. For the kids it was already very interesting to deal with this new technical instruments – to see and to listen how they work. In the field the awareness of the sounds of the enviroment and the creativity of what could sound interesting was requested. After hard work, we made all together a nice barbecue with drinks, bread, spicy pepperoni and sausages!

Nightwalker – Leonor Parda @EG, Maurachgasse 1, Bregenz
Nightwalker is a project that explores the margins and thresholds between urban space and the post-industrial remnants of peripheral zones, examining how these interplay with our subjectivities and larger cultural narratives.
WGN invited Leonor Parda (Porto) to have a short residency here in Bregenz. Through the month of June she will develop a serie of works for the EG in the Maurachgasse 1, inspired by the region and with the intention of collaborating with local artists.

AÏRES 2 – Andreas Trobollowitsch @EG, Maurachgasse 1, Bregenz
„AÏRES 2“ ist eine Folgearbeit der begehbaren Klanginstallation „AÏRES“ und vereint die Konzepte einer Klangskulptur und eines akustischen Kopfhörersystems. Sie besteht aus einem geräuscharmen Seitenkanalverdichter, einem rotierenden Luftverteiler mit Elektromotoren und 72 Flöten, die auf einer hohlen Holzkugel montiert sind, in die der Kopf gesteckt werden kann.
Die Motoren unterbrechen den Luftstrom in unterschiedlichen Geschwindigkeiten, wodurch die Flöten durch die Luftimpulse angespielt werden und der Klang in Tonhöhe und Zusammensetzung variiert. Die Arbeit kann sowohl von außen als Klangskulptur als auch von innen als überdimensionaler Ambisonic-Kopfhörer erlebt werden.
